Neighbourly is a simple phone app for your housing society — plot society or apartment complex.
Instead of important work getting lost in WhatsApp chats, you can keep notices, complaints, maintenance dues, and hall bookings in one clear place.
This guide is for everyone: residents, secretary, treasurer, and committee members.
Who should do what
- Committee / secretary — create the society once, share the join code, and approve people who ask to join.
- Residents — install the app, join with the code, then use notices, complaints, dues, and bookings.
Important: One phone account can belong to only one society. So use your own account — do not share login with others.
First time setup (for committee)
If your society is not on Neighbourly yet, one committee member should do this:
- Install Neighbourly and register with your name, mobile/email, and password.
- On the Home screen, tap Create society.
- Enter your society name and city.
- Choose how your society is built — house/plot, flat/apartment, or mixed.
- Save. You are now managing this society in the app.
Next, open society settings and find the join code. Copy it and share only with real residents — for example in the society WhatsApp group, on the notice board, or in person.
When someone requests to join, open Join requests, check their name and flat/plot details, then approve or reject. While approving, you can link them to the correct house or flat.
How residents join
If your society is already on Neighbourly:
- Ask your secretary or committee for the society join code.
- Install Neighbourly and create your own account.
- On Home, tap Join with code.
- Enter the code carefully and check that the society name and city look correct.
- Add your flat / plot / house number if asked (example: B-204 or Plot 12).
- Send the request and wait. You will see the society on Home after the committee approves you.
If nothing happens for a day or two, remind your secretary — your request may still be waiting for approval.
Everyday use for residents
- Notices — read official society updates such as water tank cleaning, festival plans, or AGM dates. These stay in the app, so you can open them again later.
- Complaints — report problems like lift not working, leakage, parking issue, or street light. You can follow whether it is open, in progress, or closed.
- Maintenance — see dues for each month or period, and what is still pending.
- Bookings — request the society hall, garden, or other common area for a function. Wait for committee approval before you confirm plans.
Everyday work for committee
- Approve new join requests regularly so residents are not stuck waiting.
- Keep flats/houses and resident names updated.
- Publish clear notices instead of only posting in WhatsApp.
- Update complaint status so people know work is moving.
- Create maintenance periods and mark payments as collected.
- Approve or reject common-area booking requests from the booking inbox.
Helpful tips
- Use the real join code from your committee only. Do not guess or invent a code.
- Keep WhatsApp for friendly chat. Use Neighbourly for official society work.
- Write complaints with clear details: where, what, and when.
- If you change your flat or leave the society, ask the committee to update your record.
- You can change the app language (English / Hindi / Gujarati) anytime from Profile.
